Update 16th October

THE DEEP END • ABUNDANT LIFE:
Today we celebrate World Mission Sunday, a time to highlight the importance of sharing the Good News. The theme of this year’s Mission Sunday is ‘Abundant life’, a phrase which brings to mind a fullness of life and a spirit of joy. Is this how we go about our mission?
In Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel), Pope Francis speaks of the joy of being a missionary. He says that all Christians, by virtue of their baptism, are missionary disciples: ‘All the baptised, whatever their position in the Church or their level of instruction in the faith, are agents of evangelisation… Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelisation; indeed, anyone who has truly experienced God’s saving love does not need much time or lengthy training to go out and proclaim that love. Every Christian is a missionary to the extent that he or she has encountered the love of God in Christ Jesus. So what are we waiting for?’

Boyle Arts Festival / Fregoli Theatre
BAF, In association with Fregoli Theatre are delighted to bring the play Pleasure Ground  home to Boyle on December 12th. Written by Jarlath Tivnan and directed by Maria Tivnan, Pleasure Ground is based on ideas inspired by the decline of a typical rural Irish town. The play is based around the town of Boyle, inspired by its playground, which is actually called the Pleasure Ground.
Jarlath’s writing is witty and sharp, and captures the beauty of rural and small town life whilst exploring feelings of sadness and isolation. His characters are very much of their generation (born in the 1990s) but their stories will strike a chord with all generations.
Pleasure Ground will be performed in St. Joseph’s Hall, Boyle on Saturday December 12th at 8pm.Tickets priced €12 and €10 are on sale now from Taylors Jewellers, Bridge Street, Únabhán Tourism, King House, Boyle and on www.eventbrite.ie
